A New Year

It's hard to believe that the first month of the New Year is almost over!! I can hardly believe how quickly time is flying by. I haven't updated this blog since November of 2009, so I think it's time to add some current pictures and give new news going on in the Walker house.
Scott came home after his year overseas December 13. We were all super excited to have hime home and to start readjusting to having him here. (Which I think is still an on going process) =)
The day after he got home, I had my shoulder surgery from a skiing accident I had about 15 years ago. It is amazing to not have pain (in the area that was so painful, for so long) I have been in therapy since the beginning of the year, it's slowly working it's way back to being normal. A week after surgery we took a rode trip to Nevada to see Linda and Richard and of course as you can see from the picture below..... some snow! The girls loved it and had a great time throwing snowballs at us and their grandparents!! All of us, enjoying the cold! But why am I only in a sweat shirt, I was freezing~
Don't let the look of fear fool you.....she loved her new sled she got for Christmas!!

In this picture, Lexi had just finished throwing a snowball at me and was laughing, she loved it.

This was Christmas Eve at our house and she is waiting patiently to open all the gifts sitting next to her.

Since all the holidays have ended and life is settling back into normal, we have had a few fun things go on with the girls. Kylie has been getting more projects for Social Studies and we recently made "corn husk" dolls for a project. When she read that was all some kids had to play with, she was shocked and couldn't believe how lucky she was to have all the toys that she has.
She has also been taking on the roll of cleaning the house and doing the dishes. Of course this is not by her choice alone. She is starting to get "Monopoly" money for all the chores that she does. She has to then pay for the fun things she wants to do, like playing on the computer, having her phone, and as Scott put it "rent". By working around the house, she earns money to pay for all the fun things and if at the end of the month she still has money, then she gets to trade it in for real money that she can take to the store to buy herself something, or she can save it. She really enjoys it and sees just how hard it is to keep things picked up when everyone else is done with their things.
With Lexi, she is officially on the road to potty training. She uses the potty all day long and it doesn't matter if we are home or not. It is fantastic! She only wears a diaper at bed time because, well, otherwise she floods the bed. Since she sleeps with Kylie, we felt that until she can wake up dry, it's in everyone's best interest to keep the bed dry. When she wakes up in the morning, she takes it off and says, "No diaper Mommy, me is a big girl!!" To which of course I reply, "Yes you are sweet cheeks!"
Lexi loves learning new things everyday. I found a website (thanks to one of my classmates) that is designed to help preschoolers learn their letters and helps them learn to read through phonics. She also loves playing Memory games, Hi Ho Cherry-O, SpongeBob Ants in the Pants, and learning Spanish with help from Dora. Another of her favorite langages, is Chinese with help from Ni-Ho Kai-lan. It is the best feeling ever to see her learn to count not only in English, but other languages as well. It's great to see her "wheels" spin daily as she figures things out.
I am still in school and have one last week left in this block of classes. I am going to be so glad when my computer class is over. It is still pretty much a foreign language to me, but I am trying my best to keep my head up. I am not really looking forward to the next block of classes which includes Algebra maybe Kylie can help me out since she is pretty good in that subject!! =)
Well, I think that it about the extent of this months update. Sorry it has taken so long to back into writting one. Hope that so far 2010 is going well for all of you that I do not see as often as we'd like. I will try my best to keep this more up dated and use Nicole as my inspiration to get on here more often....she does such a wonderful job keeping us all up to date on her family and those darling little boys of hers!!
